At least 39 dead after train derails in Spain

Pixabay

(CNN, KYMA) - At least 39 people are dead after a train derailed in Spain Sunday.

Emergency officials say at least 73 were injured, with about a third of those in serious condition.

Officials say three carriages derailed when a train was bringing hundreds of passengers to Madrid. They say those cars crashed into a separate train, heading in the opposite direction.

Video captured shows how carriages from that second train tumbled down an embankment.
