Two people arrested in connection to hit-and-run on West 8th Street
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Two people were arrested Wednesday in connection to a hit-and-run that happened on April 8, 2025, according to Yuma Police Department (YPD).
A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were found at around 7 a.m. on May 14.
They were booked and charged with the following:
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Assault
- Aggravated assault
- Tampering with evidence
- Hindering prosecution
- False reporting
- Criminal damage
On April 28, at about 11:41 p.m., officers were called regarding a crash with a bicyclist in the area of W. 8th Street.
The 48-year-old man riding the bicycle was hit and the vehicle fled the scene. The bicyclist was flown to a Phoenix hospital with life-threatening-injuries.
After officers arrived, YPD says they found debris on the roadway from the vehicle, believed to be from the front end of a 2015-2020 silver or gray Chrysler 300C.
The Yuma Police Department thanks the community for providing information leading to the arrests.
YPD says the case is still under investigation. The suspects will be in court on Friday, May 16.
