Man dies after his vehicle plunges into a lake in Florida
CELEBRATION, Fla. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A man's body was recovered after his vehicle plunged into a lake in the Celebration area Tuesday, according to Osceola County Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Troopers said the crash happened around 3:37 p.m. Eastern on Bloom Street and Front Street.
According to the FHP, preliminary evidence shows a Chrysler Pacifica was parked in a parking spot on Bloom Street when the driver began reversing out of the parking spot and proceeded forward when for unknown reasons, the driver ran off of the roadway, struck a curb and a fence before driving into the lake, becoming submerged.
Officials said that after the crash that happened near the The Inn at Celebration, Autograph Collection, crews on the ground and in a helicopter lost sight of the vehicle because of the depth of the lake.
The Orlando Fire Department dive team was brought in to assist, and officials said a man's body was recovered from the vehicle.
Troopers said there was a roadblock for both directions on Bloom Street.
The crash remains under investigation.
