Truck chase in Los Angeles County ends in crash

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A wild pursuit in Los Angeles County, even by Southern California standards, as a stolen truck left a trail of destruction in a series of crashes.

A stake-bed truck rammed its way through slow traffic Friday, starting near the University of Southern California in South L.A., cutting across the middle of Los Angeles County through Santa Fe Springs and Norwalk, before coming to a dramatic end in Long Beach.

The police units backed off as the truck rampaged through slow traffic the wrong way and hit several cars.

The driver was involved in at least four serious crashes before slamming to a stop into concrete barriers in front of a Sherwin-Williams paint store.

Then, the driver walked off and was tackled by officers a few blocks away.

One officer was injured during the takedown, and two others were taken by ambulance.
