One person injured after stepping into oncoming traffic

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) is investigating a crash that resulted in one person being injured.

In a press release, the crash happened Friday before 7:30 p.m. in the area of E. 32nd Street, near S. Julian Way.

YPD says a 36-year-old man "stepped or jumped into oncoming traffic," and a 2020 Jeep Wrangler, driven by an 18-year-old woman, "collided" with the man, causing serious injuries.

YPD says the man was taken to Onvida Health, and was "further flown to a Phoenix area hospital in serious condition. Fortunately, YPD says no other injuries were reported.

While YPD says, "Neither speed nor impairment" appear to factor in the crash, the investigation remains ongoing.
