Jalen Fong – Anchor/Producer


Jalen Fong is a proud Imperial Valley native, born and raised in Calipatria, California. He joined KYMA in December 2022 as a Multimedia Journalist for the Imperial Valley and is now a morning anchor/producer for News 11 and Fox 9.

Jalen is a proud graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, Class of 2019. While at Cronkite, he majored in Sports Journalism and minored in Political Science.

While at ASU, he was a member of the ASU Live Stream team which covered a variety of sports for the PAC-12 Network. He also covered the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox during Spring Training in 2018.

After college, Jalen returned home when he began his journalism career at The Desert Review in Brawley as a community writer. He eventually would transition into sports where he became their Senior Sports Reporter.

Throughout his time in the Imperial Valley, Jalen would also be a contributing writer for both The Calexico Chronicle and Holtville Tribune.

In October 2020, Jalen left print journalism to take a new position at Valley Sports Network, where he became their Web Content Manager. Jalen played a pivotal role in expanding VSN's social media presence, almost doubling their subscribers during his time there. He would end his time at VSN as their sideline reporter for Imperial Valley football games.

Jalen is excited about this newest opportunity in the journalism field. He says his favorite part about this profession is that you are always going to meet a new person every day.

His dream is to see his beloved Hornets win a CIF title in basketball.

He is thankful to all of his family and friends who have supported him and who regularly tune in to watch his broadcasts.
