April is Autism Awareness Month

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - April is Autism Awareness Month and some advocates say there should also be a focus on autism acceptance.

About 1 in 44 United States children are diagnosed with being on the autism spectrum, says the CDC.

Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD, can come at an early age and continue throughout life.

"You're really likely, given that most people with autism have jobs, live in our community, go to our same schools, you're very likely to know people with autism," explains Katie Walton of Ohio State University.
