CHP implementing maximum enforcement period for Fourth of July weekend

KYMA

The enforcement period begins at 6:01 p.m. on Friday, June 30 through 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the California Office of Traffic Safety are working together to implement a statewide Maximum Enforcement Period to keep drivers safe for the Fourth of July Weekend.

The statewide Maximum Enforcement Period will begin at 6:01 p.m. on Friday, June 30, through 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.

This enforcement period is to make sure drivers arrive safely to their destination and to prevent any possible crashes.

CHP advises drivers to designate a sober driver or use public transportation or ride-share service to prevent impaired drivers.

If you see or suspect an impaired driver, call 9-1-1 immediately. CHP said to be prepared to provide the dispatcher with a description of the vehicle, the license plate number, location, and direction of travel.
