Fire causes local business to evacuate
BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Brawley firefighters are investigating why a fire broke out in a building used as a storage facility.
Firefighters responded to the fire Tuesday night in Downtown Brawley.
"Inferno," a business that shares a wall with the building had to evacuate due to heavy smoke.
It took them at least three hours before they were able to return.
The Brawley Fire Department said they are thankful to all the fire departments who assisted.
“Commander activated our off-duty personnel and also activated a second alarm. We received help from the city of Calipat, Calipatria prison, State prison, and also the Imperial Fire Department,” said Chief Michael York from the Brawley Fire Department.
The owner of the building says it's used to store restaurant equipment and all of the equipment was burned.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.
