Shane Co. will pay you $1,500 to go on 15 first dates

By Emmy Abbassi, CNN

Tired of going on awkward first dates? Maybe some cash will incentivize you.

Shane Co. is offering to pay one reluctant romantic $1,500 to go on 15 first dates and document it for the jewelry company.

“We know it takes a lot of courage to put your heart on the line and take a chance on someone new,” Shane Co. said in a news release. “On the other hand, it could be the beginning of many beautiful moments to come.”

To be considered for the job, candidates must be single (no cheaters allowed) and able to find their own dates on dating apps, at grocery stores, or wherever. They don’t all have to be strangers, but they must be 15 different people.

For safety purposes, Shane Co. suggests first dates should be held in public places with buddy systems and backup plans to prepare for any situation.

The person chosen for the job must be at least 18 years old and willing to document each date by taking a photo and completing a worksheet detailing the experience. Yes, Shane Co. wants you to spill the tea!

“Should the winner have a unique, budding love story to share and wants to share it publicly we would love to feature their story on The Loupe, the Shane Co. blog,” Johnray Strickland, the jeweler’s director of digital marketing, told CNN.

To apply, submit an application online by February 10. The winner will be announced on February 27 and have five months to complete the dates.

“Shane Co. is in the love business,” said Strickland. “We love love and are happy to provide a fun way for people to go on dates and maybe even find their person.”
