Heber appoints Dessert as new Public Utility District GM
HEBER, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of Heber has a new General Manager at the helm.
Hoping to lead the city in its Public Works Department.
Madeline Dessert assumes the role of General Manager of the Heber Public Utility District, taking over for Laura Fisher who served in that role for more than a decade.
The city announced the hiring of Dessert as the new GM on January 3rd.
Dessert previously worked at the County of Imperial Area Agency, where she focused on financial and grant management.
Dessert is excited to begin her role in helping the City of Heber grow.
“There are new housing developments going up, apartment buildings, senior apartments as well as low-income apartments," said Dessert. "So our job as a public utility district is to be poised and ready to serve that growing community.”
Dessert plans to update the water waste facilities that the city has and also has something in the works for kids in the area.
“We are changing our children’s park as well as building a new park," said Dessert. "We’re hoping to install a splash pad for the kids to enjoy.”
Many within the district are excited to see what new developments are made during this transition.
“I’ve seen the growth that HPD made from back in the ’90s to now," said Moises Cardenas, Office Manager, Heber Public Utility District. "With Ms. Dessert at the helm, I can only see the growth progressing.”
Dessert hopes that funding can be secured soon, just in time for summer.
