Doorbell cameras catch fake FedEx delivery driver stealing boxes

ENCINITAS, Calif. (NBC) - Doorbell cameras catch a man dressed as a delivery driver in the act of stealing packages.

In Encinitas, doorbell cameras caught the man, dressed in FedEx delivery gear.

He appears to be taking packages from people's porches.

In one of the videos, the man walks up to a porch with a small package in hand.

He then leaves with not only the package he came with, but he also takes a larger box.

According to the owner of the home, the package contained a holiday order that she ordered.

Another video shows the same man walk up to another porch right after a Christmas gift had arrived.

But he didn't see the gift that was safely tucked away, so he turned away.

Residents say they believe the man is following delivery trucks in a dark-colored minivan.

They also say he is there within minutes after packages are dropped off.

The San Diego Sounty Sheriff's Department says they are investigating the thefts.
