Padres fall short on agreements with Judge, Turner but snag Bogaerts at shortstop
(KYMA, KECY/ AP News) - On top of an already, seemingly, deep lineup, the San Diego Padres and former Red Sox All-Star Xander Bogaerts agreed to a blockbuster $280 million, 11-year contract.
San Diego also met with Aaron Judge and Trea Turner before the big stars chose another route - Judge going back to the Yankees and Turner heading to Philadelphia, who beat the Padres in the National League Championship Series.
The Padres already have standout Fernando Tatis Jr. at shortstop, but after missing the entire 2022 season because of injuries and an 80-game suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug, it leaves many wondering what the field will look like when Tatis returns.
