Yuma City Council proposes public safety employee pay increases

The proposal is designed to enhance recruiting and retaining public safety personnel

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The public safety step plan was recently presented to the Yuma City Council.

The plan's primary initiative is to enhance recruiting and maintain current public safety workers in place.

The plan highlights pay increases for public safety personnel for the Yuma police and fire department.

There are currently nearly 300 safety members who are part of the public safety step plan, which if enacted it would allow public safety employees to receive an approximate 18% pay increase by January 2024.
