Rep. Grijalva announces $2.37 million to fund for Somerton school buses

SOMERTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - As of Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Arizona Representative announced $2.37 million in federal funds.

Accordingly, these funds will go to the Somerton Elementary School District as they are recipients of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean School Bus Program rebate competition.

For further context, school districts around the country receives the award in order to purchase buses and eligible infrastructure.

So far, the Somerton Elementary School District requested six school buses under the program.

“In Arizona, we know how critical it is to transition to a clean and sustainable future and this clean energy bus award for Somerton Elementary will help make that possible,” said Grijalva.

“We owe our kids cleaner air, less climate pollution and a healthier learning environment. It is has never been more apparent that the time to towards clean transportation options is now."
