Arizona GOP’s attempt to quash January 6th subpoena fails

(KYMA, KECY/ AP News) - A federal judge has rejected an effort by Arizona's Republican Party Chair and her husband to block a subpoena of their phone records issued by the January 6th House Committee.

The ruling from a U.S. District judge said none of the reasons Kelli and Michael Ward cited for blocking the congressional demand passed legal muster.

The House Committee is seeking phone records from just before the November 2020 election to Jan. 31, 2021 - which includes a period where the Wards were pushing for former President Donald Trump’s election defeat to be overturned.

The Wards were presidential electors who would have voted for Trump in the electoral college had he won Arizona.
