Board of Supervisors and Registrar of Voters honor democracy
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On Tuesday, September 20, the Imperial Board of Supervisors held their off-site meeting in Calipatria.
Certainly, in a press release, the Board proclaimed September 20 as National Voter Registration Day.
Not only that, the Board and their Registrar of Voters, Linsey Dale, invited Imperial County (IC) residents to join them in a nonpartisan effort to highlight the importance of voting.
More specifically, the importance of participating in democracy by encouraging all eligible IC residents to register to vote.
Therefore, to be eligible to register to vote in California, one must be a U.S. citizen.
Equally important, they need to be 18-year-old on or before Election Day, and not be a felon.
However, individuals between 16-17 years of age may pre-register to vote; registration will automatically become active upon their 18th birthday.

Once those meet the above requirements, it will be easier than ever to register to vote in California.
In addition, online registration is available in IC and has become a popular way to register in recent years.
To register to vote online, go to RegisterToVote.ca.gov and fill out the forms.
However, if you want to register in person, traditional paper documents are available at many public and government offices.
Furthermore, the offices include city halls, post office, and the IC Registrar of Voters Office, located at 940 W. Main St., Suite 206 in El Centro.

Additional information regarding NVRD
By and large, the last day to register to vote and receive a ballot by mail for the November 8 General Election is October 24.
Equally important, voters who have recently moved or changed their name should re-register.
If residents miss the deadline, then they can still have the option to conditionally register, also known as same-day registration and vote in-person up until 8:00pm on Election Day.
