Arizona Dept. of Gaming reports $41.6 million in contributions
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) reports of $41.6 million in tribal gaming contributions.
Accordingly, through a press release, the contributions will go to the Arizona Benefits Fund for the first quarter of 2023.
Furthermore, this amount represents an increase of 2.1 percent when compared to first quarter of Fiscal Year (FY) 2022.
“Arizona’s tribal gaming industry continues to impress, with a quarterly contribution record of $41.6 million to the Arizona Benefits Fund,” said Ted Vogt, Director, ADG.
“This follows record levels of tribal gaming contributions in the last fiscal year, highlighting the growth of tribal gaming since the signing of the amended Tribal-State Gaming Compacts by Governor Ducey and Arizona Tribes in 2021.”
Arizona Benefits Fund
For further context, the Arizona Benefits Fund receives 88 percent of tribal gaming contributions.
This provides significant dollars to support the following:
- Instructional improvement in schools
- Trauma and emergency care
- Tourism and wildlife conservation throughout the state
Since 2004, there has been $1.7 billion in the tribal contributions to the Arizona Benefits Fund.

Moreover, tribal gaming contributions to the Arizona Benefits Fund are as follows:
- Instructional Improvement Fund/Education: $20,719,420
- Trauma and Emergency Services Fund: $10,359,710
- Arizona Department of Gaming operating costs: $3,741,468
- Arizona Wildlife Conservation Fund: $2,959,917
- Tourism Fund: $2,959,917
- Problem Gambling Education, Treatment and Prevention: $831,437
All in all, these add up, or rather round up to the aforementioned $41.6 million.

Altogether, per the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact, Tribes with casinos contribute a percentage of their Class III gross gaming revenue.
What's more, the Class III gross gaming revenue goes to the state, cities, towns, and countries in and around Arizona.
Currently, there are 24 Class III casinos in Arizona, which ADG regulates with Arizona tribes.
