Palmcroft Elementary to hold drive-thru fundraiser to support family of crossing guard

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - In an effort to honor and support the family of a beloved crossing guard, Palmcroft Elementary School is holding a fundraiser Friday night.

Maria Cecilia Chavez was a 70-year-old school crossing guard who was hit by a car on duty two-weeks ago, before passing away last Tuesday.

Palmcroft staff are coming together, hoping to raise enough money to support her family. All proceeds made from the event will be given to Chavez's family.

The drive-thru benefit dinner will take place Friday, September 16th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, located at 901 West Palmcroft Drive.

It is $10 per donation or plate of food - which includes barbacoa, rice, beans, macaroni salad, salsa and a roll.

Tickets are currently being sold at Palmcroft Elementary, Ron Watson Elementary, and the Yuma District One Office.
