The City of Yuma is hosting its 11th Annual Back to School Rodeo
News 11 reporter Melissa Zaremba brings us more details on how locals can receive free school supplies.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - It’s not too early for students to start gathering their school supplies. That’s why the City of Yuma is hosting their Back to School Rodeo to help students prepare for the upcoming school year.
The Back to School Rodeo is back and this year the city of Yuma is giving away 2,000 backpacks to local students.
“When it began we started with 500 back-packs so we are really reaching the community and the community support is just growing and growing and growing so it’s pretty exciting,” said Special Events Coordinator Joanne Fiser.
This is a free drive-thru event to help K-12 students.
“The first kids that come through and your student does need to be present in the vehicle to receive a backpack,” said Fiser.
The backpacks will be filled with notebooks, glue, crayons, anything kids may need for the upcoming school year.
The city of Yuma says they hope this will be a great start for students to have a successful school year.
The Back to School Rodeo will be tomorrow at 7 am at the Yuma Civic Center where backpacks will be given out while supplies last.
