New migrant caravan sets off from Honduras

NBC News

Hundreds head for United States on foot

SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras (KYMA, KECY/NBC News) - The next wave of migrants are headed to the United States from Central America.

New video shows hundreds of migrants setting off on foot Wednesday to start making the more than 1,600 mile trek. They're looking to form the same kind of caravan that made its way through Mexico in 2018.

Mexican authorities started breaking up similar caravans last year under pressure from the Trump administration. This group will likely face the same obstacles.

Trucks or buses did offer some immigrants rides to the Guatemalan border. However once they arrive, they'll still have another thousand miles to go before reaching the U.S. border.

KYMA.com, News 11, and 13 On Your Side will continue to monitor the caravan's progress and bring you updates as they become available.
