YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Earlier Saturday at the Heritage Library in Yuma, residents were invited to a community forum to discuss local issues.

The event was put on by the group Instituto, who wanted to create something for neighbors to meet each other.

Those who went got a chance to voice their concerns about problems in their neighborhood with others, and hopefully, create some solutions in the future.

Paulette Zinzun is a programs coordinator with Insituto, and mentioned how happy she was with the turnout.

“It’s not something like I said that you see in the county happen at all I would say, so I think it means that Yumans are activated and they’re ready to solve their own issues from their communities,” Zinzun said.

The group Instituto is based out of Phoenix, but is hoping to hold more events in Yuma going forward.
