Yuma locals starting to see the border for themselves
FOX 9's Adam Klepp spoke to residents from the Foothills who believe President Biden is to blame for border crisis
YUMA, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA) - Two residents from the Foothills say they feel less safe in Yuma because of what’s going on at the border.
They also blame President Biden for the current situation.
"Joe Biden doesn’t know what he’s doing and he’s acting like it’s nothing,” Cindy Rose said.
“Where is our president? Why doesn’t he come down here and see it for himself?” John Sircable asked.
Despite Title 42 remaining in place, over 100 migrants gathered at the Morelos Dam Friday morning.
The crowds are expected to get even bigger when Title 42 ends next month on May 23rd.
Sircable says he has sympathy for the migrants fleeing danger but thinks it’s unrealistic to let everyone in.
"I understand they want a better life but we can’t help everyone,” Sircable expressed.
Rose is also concerned about the amount of taxpayer dollars being spent at the border.
"We have our veterans, we have elderly that can’t take care of themselves," Rosee said. "There’s an awful lot of money being spent here and an awful amount of money is going to be lost because of it.”
In January Director of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas became the first high ranking member of the Biden Administration to visit Yuma.
