Update: Fire near County 14th Street and Avenue D

Two fire departments contain fire

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A fire broke out on Saturday afternoon and the Rural Metro Fire Department (RMFD) was able control the flames.

RMFD's Battalion Chief says they received multiple calls at around 8:30 p.m. then arrived near County 14th and Avenue D.

Trees and brush were burning in the backyard of a home but the home was not affected and the homeowner did not need to go to the hospital.

The Somerton/ Cocopah Fire Department was called for assistance and the fire was contained by midnight.

Another call was made on Sunday at about 10:30 a.m. to the same location but it is currently unknown if the situation is related to the same fire.

Sunday's fire was affecting the sideyard and was firefighters extinguished it within three hours.

The cause of both fire have yet to be determined.
