AWC baseball keeps rolling
Matadors sweep Langley Blaze
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The 12th ranked Arizona Western College Matadors baseball team continued it's current winning streak, with it's doubleheader triumph over the Langley Blaze.
In game #1, the Mats pitching held the Blaze to only a single run and 2 hits.
Starting pitcher Roland Marte threw 3 shutout innings and had 7 strikeouts in AWC's 11-1 win.
Among the scoring highlights for the Mats, JC Navarro hit a solo home run in the 4th inning and Garrett Rede connected with a 3-run RBI double.
The momentum for the Mats continued in game #2, as Samuel Fabian started everything off with an RBI single that would help AWC build an early 6-0 lead.
Starting pitcher Chris Echevarrian pitched 4 shutout innings and had 5 strikeouts in route to a 6-3 victory.
The Mats wrap up their 4-game home stand on Saturday, as they play host Paradise Valley to get back into conference play.
