DEA arrests seven in huge California drug bust

CAMARILLO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The DEA shut down what it calls a major narcotic trafficking organization in California last week.

A months-long investigation netted the seizure of 50,000 fentanyl pills and 45 pounds of meth in Camarillo.

The fentanyl pills were copies of prescription oxycodone tablets but were laced with potentially fatal doses of the synthetic opioid instead.

Seven suspects were taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

The arrests come as U.S. overdose deaths reach another record high, largely due to a surge caused by fentanyl.
