NJCAA Women’s Tournament preview

AWC women's basketball set to play in nationals

LUBBOCK, Texas. (KYMA, KECY) - AWC Women's basketball is on the eve of competing in the NJCAA Tournament.

Since the Lady Matadors made their long bus trip to Lubbock, Texas earlier this week; they've enjoyed being a high enough seed to have a 1st round bye.

That has given them the extra prep time for Thursday's 2nd round match-up against the College of South Georgia Tech.

Lady Mats Head Coach Patrick Cunningham shares his scouting report on the potential keys to victory against the Jets.

"Our number one concern is their transition game. So you know, so we want to make sure that we get back defensively, make them have to score two points shots in the half court. And then offensively, If we can't score and transition we need to have really good offensive possessions, make them defend us for a period of time."

He also discloses the latest health status of star forward Alliance Ndiba, after she previously re-aggravated her knee injury in the Region 1 Championship.

"It's going to be kind of up to her if she feels like she's, she's good enough to go. We're not going to endanger her health in any way, you know. But if she's if she's feeling like she can get out there and contribute and help, then we'll certainly have her on the floor. But you know, it's a game time decision."
