Astronauts begin spacewalk on the International Space Station

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - The 2022 International Space Station (ISS) spacewalk took place on March 15.

Astronauts Kayla Barron and Raja Chari will be installing modification kits to upgrade solar arrays outside the space station.

Installations began after 8 a.m. and continued for nearly seven hours.

The ISS is planned to retire by the end of 2030.
