TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - University of Arizona's women's basketball coach, Adia Barnes was named court coach for the USA Women's National Team Spring Training Camp on Tuesday morning.

“It’s such an honor to represent the United States as a USA Basketball coaching staff member and I sincerely thank the committee for selecting me as a court coach for the 2022 national team training camp,” said Barnes, who guided Arizona to the 2021 NCAA title game. “To be surrounded by the best basketball players in the world and absorb the basketball knowledge from those fellow coaches and players is a tremendous opportunity. As an assistant coach a year ago on the USA AmeriCup gold medal team, I experienced my first opportunity with coaching the USA in an international setting and the work was incredibly rewarding and I loved everything about it.”

Barnes is teaming up with Duke's Kara Lawson, Georgia's Joni Taylor and Louisville's Jeff Walz to operate as court coaches at the training camp from March 30-April 2 in Minneapolis.

If Arizona advances to the Final Four, Coach Barnes will cease to coach in the minicamp.

She's very familiar with the international coaching game as she was an assistment coach on Dawn Staley's staff—winners of the 2021 AmeriCup in Puerto Rico.

We should expect to see Barnes in the 2022 NCAA Tournament starting for Arizona on Sat. at 7 p.m. MST in McKale Center vs. University of Las Vegas in the first round.
