Emergency crews respond to reports of a gas line rupture

The gas leak stemmed from a construction crew stiking the gas line

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Just before 11 a.m. on Friday, dispatch received a call of a possible gas leak in the area of 42nd Place and Jojoba Avenue.

Members from Southwest Gas were also on scene and were able to quickly stop the leak.

According to early reports, the leak was caused after a construction crew using a backhoe struck the natural gas line. No one was injured in this incident.

According to the Yuma Fire Department, nearby residents were asked to vacate their homes will the scene was cleared.
