Local farmers market teaching children about ag

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It’s a whole new definition of farm to table.

At Knox Elementary School, students take an agriculture science class every week.

They learn how to grow their own fruits and vegetables, which just happens to be the largest school garden in the city. The produce is then sold at a farmers market held at the school.

“I would say most of the kids absolutely love the program," Ann Ogram, the ag science teacher said. "It’s given them such an appreciation to the amount of work that goes into growing their fruit and vegetables.”

The next farmers market at Gary Knox Elementary is next Wednesday, January 15 from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. Each bag of produce is 10 dollars.
