TikTok under investigation to see how it affects mental health

(KYMA, KECY/CBS) - TikTok is investigating how it affects the mental and physical health of its users, as some say the app can lead to depression and abuse in younger consumers.

The social media app was able to amass one billion users in five years, which is a lot faster compared to what Facebook was able to gather in eight years.

Probes are looking into TikTok's algorithm to find out how long users stay on the app and whether the company itself is possibly hurting children with their social media.

The Wall Street Journal was able to find TikTok tracking the amount of time users spend watching certain types of content.
