Possible vegetation fire breaks out in Imperial County

KYMA

Fire reported south of Seeley

HEBER, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A large fire has been reported to have broken out between Wormwood Road and Dearborn Road, which was responded to by Imperial County Fire Department.

On Monday, a report went out about a 3rd Alarm Fire in Imperial County.

The situation has been reported to be about a vegetation fire.

Residents are advised to avoid the area as personnel take control of the situation.

Westmorland, Holtville Fire Departments and the Naval Air Facility also joined in helping take control of the fire.

The fire was fanned by winds blowing through the Imperial Valley.

"Due to the terrain and the thickness to the fuel, we're waiting for a point to where the fuel narrows out and it makes it easier for us to extinguish it right there and at least stops its forward progress even though the fire will continue burning like within the perimeter and at least the containment lines will be made," said Imperial County Battalion Chief Christian Guzman.

A dairy farm may be in danger if the flames continue and the origin of the fire is still under investigation.
