Former NBA Commissioner passes away

David Stern held title for 30-years

NEW YORK, N.Y. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Former NBA Commissioner David Stern passed away on New Year's Day.

Stern had been hospitalized since suffering a brain hemorrhage nearly three weeks ago.

He held the title of commissioner for 30-years, serving between 1984 and 2014. He's credited for building the league into a multi-billion dollar corporation.

Stern was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.

He was 77-years-old.
