Imperial County announcing burial solution for families who can’t afford costs

Part of an indigent burial/cremation program
IMPERIAL VALLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial County Public Administrator's Office (ICPAO) announces a new opportunity for financially-struggling families who may not be able to afford typical funeral arrangements.
ICPAO Acting Public Administrator Sarah M. Enz made the announcement Friday morning saying, the Imperial County Indigent Burial/Cremation Program will host an Indigent Burial Ceremony at Terrace Park Cemetery, 1574-1590 Aenos Rd in Holtville, on Wednesday, November 10, at 10:00 a.m.
"The Indigent Burial/Cremation Program is designed to help families who are financially unable to pay for funeral expenses, as well as providing a dignified burial commensurate for the deceased without family," shares Enz.
According to the County, a decedent’s supporting evidence and intent take priority. If approved, applicants are limited to direct burial or direct cremation.
Enz clarifies, "The County of Imperial does not supplement funds already available to the family or decedent for funeral arrangements."
If anyone is interested in donating funds to offset the costs associated with the burial ceremony, please contact the ICPAO at (442) 265-7000 or visit their website here.
