Imperial County updates indoor mask mandate

The public health department changes indoor mask requirement for vaccinated residents - 13 On Your Side's Vince Ybarra reports

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KECY, KYMA) - The Imperial County Public Health Department (ICPHD) has reassessed its indoor mask policy. It said on November 1, if you're vaccinated, you do not have to wear a mask indoors.

"Anyone who is fully vaccinated does not need to wear a face cover while in indoor settings or public businesses," said Janette Angulo, ICPHD Director.

Angulo said this decision to lift the mask mandate for the specific group of individuals was led by science.

"It's important that decisions are based, made on facts, on science and that we actually implement strategies that help reduce transmission," said Angulo.

Angulo said businesses in the area are allowed to make the decision to enforce a mask, even you're vaccinated. She said it's state law to let businesses make that choice.
