First look inside Yuma shelters for asylum seekers

The Salvation Army has released footage from inside the shelter it has been running to assist those released from Border Patrol’s custody.

The video titled “The Salvation Army Responds to Border Crisis” exhibits the day to day operations of the shelter and provided an update on their response to the current trend at the southern border.

“Within four hours of having received a request from the City of Yuma to become involved in assisting the people who have been released from Federal facilities, the Salvation Army under Captains Jeff and Katie Breazeale were already in action,” said Commissioner Kenneth G. Hodder, The Salvation Army USA Western Territory.

All of those inside the shelter are legally able to travel in the U.S., according to The Salvation Army.

Viewers can witness some of the 2,700 people that the Salvation Army said they have assisted since the shelter opened six weeks ago.
