Local Chihuahua becomes social media sensation
A dog from San Luis, Sonora, Mexico is now a social media “influencer”.
Toshiro is a nine-year-old Chihuahua whose fame came after he participated in a worldwide competition on Facebook.
Toshiro was up against more than 16,000 pets from 36 countries.
But Toshiro beat them all out because of his obedient and understanding nature.
Surprisingly, he’s not a professionally trained dog.
“To be an influencer was never my intention, I started recording him because he would do funny stuff, but wouldn’t upload it to Facebook because I forgot my password. So I would only show it to neighbors but one day I was able to access to Facebook again and posted videos for my relatives and that is how everything got started with a video of Toshiro where I am asking him to cross the street,” said Hermes Flores, Toshiro’s owner.
On Wednesday, Toshiro attended an “influencer” conference held at the Autonomous University of Baja California in Mexicali. Regional personalities who managed to become “influencers” through their social media platforms, like Toshiro, were recognized at the conference.

Toshiro has more than 400,000 likes on his viral videos.
He is also set to participate in a television series on Netflix.
