YPD: Man shot, transported to YRMC with life-threatening injuries

Yuma police confirmed a 23-year-old man was shot and transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police added no arrests have been made and no suspect information is available at this time.

Yuma police responded to reports of a shooting near the area of Avenue A between 10th Street and 14th Street Friday afternoon.

There is a heavy police presence in front of OC Johnson Elementary School on Avenue A. The elementary school was under lockdown for ten minutes.

School officials said students are being released from the west playground end of the school if parents decide to pick their children there.
