Groups of migrants being released in unknown areas in San Luis

More than forty migrant families were dropped off in unknown areas around the city of San Luis during the Easter holiday weekend.

Local churches are stepping up to help them by providing them with basic necessities like food and resources for transportation.

“During the event, migrant families started arriving and the majority of them already had their documentation ready for travel to their final destination, but the problem was they didn’t have the resources for travel,” said Pastor Abraham Guerrero, from San Judas Church.

Father Guerrero said he did call the San Luis Police Department to help monitor the situation, he even added that one border patrol agent arrived that same day.

“An agent also came and he even apologized because he stated that the agency did all they could, but they couldn’t do anything further and that’s they were releasing the families,” said Father Guerrero.

Although the father said he does not know if more migrant families will be released in San Luis, he added that the doors of the church will remain open.

“When I spoke with San Luis Police department and border patrol who then got in contact with the mayor of San Luis, it does look like if this were to happen again they would all help,” said Father Guerrero.
