Police standoff leads to arrest at Budgetel Inn and Suites
Authorities have taken Michael Ruiz into custody following a standoff at the Budgetel Inn and Suites Monday afternoon.
The Yuma Police Department (YPD) said at about 10:27 a.m., officers responded to the Budgetel Inn & Suites Yuma located at 1640 S. Arizona Ave.
The suspect with a felony warrant was spotted in the area by an officer, according to YPD. The suspect was located in a room in the northwest corner of the building with a woman and two children.
The suspect eventually surrendered at about 3:00 p.m. and is now in custody.
The woman and children, who were inside the motel room with Ruiz, were released following the arrest.
