El Centro Sector sees spike in apprehensions

El Centro Border Patrol said they have seen a 39 percent increase in apprehensions on the heels of President Trump’s arrival to their sector.

Agents have made nearly 19,000 apprehensions since October, according to Agent Jose Enríquez.

They said the capacity at their processing center fluctuates.

Agent Enriquez explained once migrants are processed their fate is then in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)’s hands.

ICE then decides if the individual is sent back to Mexico or waits for their court date in the United States, according to Enriquez.
