President Trump to speak to Border Patrol on border crisis Friday

President Donald Trump will be speaking to Border Patrol Friday on the issues the agency has faced during the recent border crisis.

Adam Kennedy, White House Deputy Communication Director, said President Trump knows the surge of illegal immigration at the border has been a challenge for agents.

“For handling 4,000 people in a single day, expecting a 100,000 a month, and these are people we can easily send back to their countries. These are people more often than not just released into our communities,” said Kennedy.

President Trump will speak to those who are working the front lines and know what it’s like to work along the border.

Kennedy said, “The president likes to hear from the people on the ground, who are actually experiencing this. The president is a big fan of our law enforcement community down there defending our border and on these border towns.”

Trump will also see first hand the improvements made to the border fence that has been there since the Vietnam War.

Kennedy added, “The President’s number one priority is the safety and security of the American people. And that’s what he’s going to make sure he does.”

Meanwhile, some local leaders opposed to the visit are planning a demonstration in Calexico.

Marlene Thomas, a community activist, said, “We’re putting together our posters and we’re doing our networking. We’re activating our supporters and members of our various groups.”

Thomas said she disapproves of how the president has handled the immigration issues.

“We’re all one. We’re in this little boat together. It has been a thing that’s been evolving. The groups, individuals, we’re now coming together. We understand that there’s strength in numbers and that’s what we’re projecting on Friday,” Thomas added.
