Arizona woman arrested after baby tests positive for meth

Arizona authorities have arrested a woman on suspicion of child abuse and endangerment after the 6-month-old step-grandchild she was caring for tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police in the Phoenix suburb of Surprise said Tuesday they arrested 39-year-old Rene Galbreath last week after the child’s mother took the infant to a local hospital.

Detectives with a search warrant found methamphetamine in the room where Galbreath had been caring for the child for several hours.

Maricopa County Court records available online did not indicate if Galbreath had an attorney. A preliminary court hearing has been set for April 16.
