Local college launches classroom for special needs students

A collaboration between two local organizations are making it easier for young children with disabilities to be included into classrooms with other students.

Arizona-based First Thing’s First provided collaborated with Arizona Western College and provided the necessary funding and resources to support children with disabilities.

School District I would now be able to send special needs students to their Childhood Development Center and their newly opened learning lab.

“90 percent of brain development happens before they enter kindergarten, ” says Regional Director for First Thing’s First Rudy Ortiz.

Echoing the importance of making sure preschools have the best resources and curriculum to ensure the successful mental growth of these children.

Thursday was the ribbon cutting ceremony for their new childhood learning lab which creates a more interactive and hands-on approach to learning.
