Latest on western wildfires burning in California
(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - A pair of California wildfires are threatening Sequoia National Park's ancient trees and infrastructure.
The lightning-sparked Colony and Paradise fires covered about 11 square miles on Wednesday. Officials say the Colony fire poses a threat to the Sequoia National Park's "Giant Forest", but not imminently.
More than 2,000 Sequoia trees are potentially at risk and the National Park has been shut down and mandatory evacuations are underway.
