Tucson Sector agents arrest two previously deported felons

Border Patrol agents apprehended two previously deported felons Sunday after they were suspected of illegally entering the United States in separate occasions.

According to a press release, agents arrested a 35-year-old Honduran national Sunday morning after he entered the country illegally west of Sasabe, Ariz. Agents processed the man who was identified as Santos Avila Rosales. He was convicted of child molestation in Louisiana in 2011.

Later that day, Casa Grande Station agents arrested 46-year-old Arturo Benjamin Avila Torres after he was suspected of illegally entering the country south of Vamori, Ariz. CBP officials said a record check revealed the Mexican national was a two-time California convicted felon for assault with a firearm in 1993 and in 1998 for lascivious acts with a minor under 14.

Both individuals are in federal custody and face immigration prosecution.
