Nearly $158K worth of meth confiscated by CBP officers

Customs and Border Protection arrested a 25-year-old man who was suspected of smuggling nearly $158,000 worth of methamphetamine at the San Luis Port of Entry Tuesday morning.

According to a press release, officers sent a man, of San Luis, Sonora, driving a Ford van for further inspection as he tried to enter the United States. A CBP narcotics detection canine helped officers discover packages that were hidden throughout the vehicle. Almost 50 packages were found and were valued at about $158,000.

Authorities seized the drugs and the vehicle. The man was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
