Woman suspected of smuggling fentanyl and meth arrested

A 19-year-old woman suspected of smuggling alleged fentanyl and methamphetamine was arrested by Customs and Border Protection officers Monday morning at the San Luis Port of Entry.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to a Toyota sedan, driven by a 19-year-old woman, of Mexico, who was trying to cross into the United States at the Port of San Luis. An inspection by officers led to the discovery of packages inside of the vehicle’s battery.

The drugs were identified as nearly three pounds of meth, worth around $8,900, along with two pounds of suspected fentanyl pills, worth nearly $32,000.

Authorities seized the vehicle, drugs, and arrested the woman who was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
