Case of Yuma man charged in attempted murder continues

EDITORS NOTE: Daniel Muñoz’ attorney, Richard Parks, told News 11 that his client has not been sentenced. Parks said they were there to dispute the judge’s sentencing recommendation of six and a half years. The defense is still working on only getting five years. Muñoz is scheduled to be back in court on June 26. We have corrected the previous article where it was noted he had already been sentenced.

A Yuma man convicted of shooting two people last year was in court Wednesday morning along with his attorney to seek a lower sentence.

Earlier this year, Daniel Gilbert Muñoz was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault.

Muñoz is set to appear back in court on June 26 for a new sentence.

The man accused of shooting two people in Yuma will soon go to trial.

Thirty-three-year-old Daniel Muñoz is in custody after allegedly being involved in a shooting that happened last May.

The two victims were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The judge will set his jury trial to begin next month.
